the Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Construction Project Coordinator to lead equipment installation and facility modification projects in a manufacturing environment. This role manages projects from initial scope development and contract negotiation through installation, commissioning, and closeout. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial construction, equipment installation, and contractor management, preferably within an automotive or heavy manufacturing setting
.
Projects are typically executed during non-production hours and require hands‑on coordination with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead industrial equipment installation and modification projects from concept through completion
- Develop project scopes, create machine and installation specifications, and support equipment procurement
- Manage general contractors and subcontractors, including contract negotiation and field change orders
- Coordinate installation of robotics cells, jigs, conveyors, transfer systems, AGVs, overhead rail systems, and hoists
- Oversee facility systems installation including HVAC, exhaust systems, cooling water, lighting, sealer systems, and utility distribution
- Administer construction contracts and perform onsite inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and reporting using MS Project and Excel
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams including machine vendors, inspection agencies, shipping providers, and internal engineering and management teams
- Monitor and enforce job‑site safety compliance at all times
- Resolve unplanned issues efficiently while maintaining schedule and budget objectives
- Provide regular project status updates to management, including safety, schedule, cost, and quality
- Complete post‑project reviews and lessons‑learned documentation
- Technical school degree or equivalent hands‑on industrial experience
- Strong background in industrial construction and project management
- Experience managing equipment installation in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of robotics, conveyors, transfer systems, HVAC, utilities, and material handling systems
- Experience creating machine specifications and supporting equipment procurement
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and complex schedules
- Strong problem‑solving, time management, and technical communication skills
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off‑shifts as required during non‑production periods
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Electrical or controls background
- Safety management experience in industrial or construction environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project
- Ability to review, manipulate, and print drawings using AutoCAD
