JOB POSTING – Casual On-Call Education Assistant

The primary responsibility of the Education Assistant is to provide support for students with special needs under the supervision of a classroom teacher. This position is ideal for individuals who are flexible and available to work on short notice.

• Provide direct instructional support to individual students or small groups.
• Assist students with personal, behavioral, and communication needs.
• Supervise and/or assist with personal care, hygiene, and toileting as required.
• Administer medical needs as instructed.
• Prepare and modify instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborate with the school-based team in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Accompany students on field trips and life skills programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including noon-hour supervision.

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children.
• Education Assistant 1 or 2 qualifications (preference for EA2).
• Training in Basic First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain.
• Courses in childhood education and special needs education.
• Computer literacy (minimum 30 wpm).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Physically able to carry out duties.
  
  Strong verbal and written English skills.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
