Overview

The Program

At Taproot Community Support Services, we’re a 100 percent employee-owned organization through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). Every employee is an owner from their first day, with a voice in shaping Taproot’s future and the opportunity to share in employee ownership dividends.

As a Certified B Corporation, we harness business for good. Since 1983 we’ve grown steadily, now delivering support across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario through more than 90 contracts.

Our 700-plus employee-owners live by five shared values: we are stronger together, we lead with optimism, we embrace challenges, we respect every voice, and we go above and beyond. Guided by these principles, we deliver more than 125 community-based services each year. We walk alongside about 1,600 children, youth, families, and people with diverse abilities, with revenues exceeding $50 million.

Taproot Community Support Services in Prince George supports adults with Addictions, FASD, Complex Mental Health and Behavioral needs through our Residential and Outreach Support programs. We provide advocacy and mentoring to these individuals who are living semi-independently in a supported living environment. These apartments are located on Dagg Road in Prince George. They are close to all amenities, transit, local shops, restaurants, hospitals and resources.

Individuals at this supported living environment live in the same building with each having their own or shared suites. Taproot staff encourages all individuals to live a full life with personalized care based on individual needs. Our commitment is to provide the people we serve with programs that maximize progress and independence, embrace strengths and qualities, and encourage integration into the community.

We follow a harm reduction model within our programs. Taproot staff promote independent living for each individual through modelling and building life skills. These skills provide our individuals to be able to maintain housing and develop home management skills, problem solving, community safety, grocery shopping, accessing tertiary supports, budgeting and banking.
