Position OverviewA Finishing Carpenter / Drywall is responsible for helping those who have been affected by fire or flood damage by rebuilding and restoring areas of homes back to their original state. Our reconstruction team is looking for individuals who are skilled in or looking to apprentice or cross train in any of the following: drywall, painting, ceiling texture & installation or carpentry.
We hire employees that are new to the trades and train them in to be valuable and versatile employees that can perform a wide array of tasks. As employees develop we offer them further training so they are continuously developing in the below areas.
- Complete chair rail and wainscoting installation
- Apply veneer panels and moldings including crown molding
- Install vanities
- Drill for locksets
- Install windows and exterior doors
- Frame columns and beams
- Frame with steel studs
- Frame wood walls and bulkheads
- Install sub-floors and sheeting
Drywall
- Perform major repairs using fast set to prepare paint/texture
- Tape, coat, skim, sand to prepare for paint
- Finishing arches
Documentation
- Consistently submit accurate documentation
- Ensure timely updated pictures are submitted
- Able to complete SSA
- Able to read and interpret HMI Reports
Communication
- Communicate with client and Project Management teams
- Ability to train level 1 & 2 Reconstruction Technicians
Health and Safety
- Ensure that self and others adhere to URS/Canstar’s health and safety practices and procedures
- Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
- Understand safety policies and protocols
- Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required
A personable and well-organized individual who pays attention to detail and has excellent data entry skills. Someone who has a professional manner and is able to interact with employers and vendors daily. Experienced in working in a fast- paced environment. Other important attributes of a future Canstar Reconstruction Technician are:
- The physical ability to bend, reach,lift 50 pounds safely and repeatedly and stand throughout your shift
- A driver’s license and personal truck/cargo van/minivan or vehicle large enough to transport 4x8 sheets of drywall and to attend jobsites is a must (generous monthly vehicle allowance is provided)
- An eagerness to bulk your paycheck with overtime hours as we are a 24/7 emergency services company, and all positions will have a component of on-call work on a rotational basis
- A great attitude and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and serve our customers
- The ability to wear personal protective equipment to keep you safe on site, including a respirator.
- We enter people’s homes, so a clean criminal record as it relates to work and a driver’s abstract with only minor infractions is required
Working Conditions:
- Travel within the Lower Mainland to visit URS/Canstar branches and client offices is required
