Heavy Duty Mechanic - Integrated MiningPosition Overview: Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal) to join our Integrated Mining Team (IMT) in BC. The IMT is responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of Caterpillar general line, power systems and mining equipment throughout Northern BC and the Yukon. This opportunity allows you to work on ultra‑class Caterpillar mining equipment and service machinery for industry leaders.

- $54.08 / hr (base rate)
- Hourly premiums:
Field $2.55 / hr, Night Shift $2.25 / hr - Travel Allowance (up to $1,000 / rotation)

Major
Job Functions:
- Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment in an active mine environment
- Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
- Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET on a daily basis
- Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes, site failure reports)
- Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team
- Collaborate with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
- Candidate selection will be in accordance with the current Collective Agreement
Qualifications:
- Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification
- Red Seal Off‑Road certificate required
- Valid driver’s license with a recent, successful abstract
- Proven field experience, preferably in mining operations
- Safety‑conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and a high attention to detail; ability to work independently
- Computer literacy and familiarity with Finning systems and software considered an asset
Important Details:
- Position is based on a 14x14 continuous day shift/night shift rotation
- Facility access requires drug & alcohol screening, fitness testing, and respirator use where applicable
- Union membership is required; dues will be deducted from pay and employment terms governed by the collective agreement
- Any future shift changes will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
