What Your Day Will Look LikeAs an Intermediate Archaeologist and Project Manager, you will manage archaeological projects from planning through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest professional and regulatory standards. You will also direct archaeological field work in compliance with provincial or territorial legislation, and play an active role in planning, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll mentor junior staff, foster a collaborative work environment, and provide strategic guidance to navigate project challenges.
Regular communication with project teams and senior leadership will be key to keeping projects on track and maintaining transparency. This role will ideally be comprised of both field and office work.
If you have active field director status (or demonstrated eligibility) under the BC Archaeology Branch, or are eligible to hold a Yukon archaeology permit, and are interested in either kick‑starting or growing your career as a project manager – this is the role for you!
What You’ll be Responsible For:Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop comprehensive workplans outlining projects, activities, timelines and resource requirements.
- Develop, manage and monitor project budgets. Accountable for overseeing budgets within assigned projects.
- Plan and manage projects safely and effectively to meet cost, schedule and quality in accordance with Ecofor’s Project Management practices, processes, and procedures.
- Maintain strong client relationships by serving as the primary point of contact, addressing concerns, and ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
- Direct field programs under permit, ensuring compliance with regulatory and project‑specific requirements.
- Lead and supervise field crews on heritage resource projects (archaeological excavations, surveys, site assessments etc.).
- Prepare clear, high‑quality technical reports and regulatory submissions that meet legislative requirements.
- Fostering positive relationships with local communities, Indigenous groups, governmental agencies and other partners.
- Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.
Our ideal candidate has five to ten years of experience in cultural resource management with demonstrated leadership in the field, and 0‑5 years of experience in project coordination or management. You are a highly organized and motivated self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and possesses strong communication, time management, and problem‑solving skills. Your ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail will be key to your success in this role.
This role requires active Field Director status (or demonstrated eligibility) under the BC Archaeology Branch, or eligibility to hold a Yukon archaeological permit as a junior Permit Holder, or equivalent credentials in other jurisdictions where Ecofor works.
