Overview

Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, the Metallurgical Technician is responsible for monitoring reagents and conducting test work related to processing plant operations. The Metallurgical Technician ensures that all metallurgical testing is conducted safely, accurately, and in line with company procedures.

Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily bottle roll leach tests to support metallurgical monitoring.
  • Conduct routine carbon activity and scale testing.
  • Complete wet and dry sizing analyses.
  • Carry out weekly cyclone surveys.
  • Perform weekly gold in circuit surveys.
  • Assist with reagent management and perform stock takes.
  • Prepare and manage reagents for online cyanide analyzers.
  • Maintain sampling equipment and online sample stations.
  • Support monthly sample compositing and analysis under metallurgists’ direction.
  • Assist in metallurgical test programs and projects as guided by metallurgists.
  • Assist the plant metallurgist with data entry of operational data for plant performance tracking.
  • Help oversee day-to-day operations of the metallurgical laboratory.
  • Support the development, review, and implementation of SOPs for test work.
  • Participate in the commissioning and setup of the metallurgical laboratory. Perform calibration and maintenance of probes and meters (in collaboration with the instrumentation team if required).
Qualifications
  • Valid 5 driver’s license.
  • Standard First Aid, WHMIS, or other safety certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including Chemistry 12, Pre‑Calculus 12, and Physics 11 or 12.
  • Hands‑on laboratory or plant experience in metallurgy, mineral processing, or materials testing considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical processes such as crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, smelting, or refining preferred, but not necessary.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain testing equipment.
  • Cyanide safety awareness and related hazards analysis/identification is an asset.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for data entry, analysis, and reporting (MS Office).
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail in sample preparation, testing, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12‑hour shift.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
