The Mullings Group Search Canada is proud to partner with our client, Centerra Gold, to find a Superintendent, Geology
. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all geological activities at Mount Milligan Mine, located 155kms Northwest of Prince George, BC. Reporting directly to the Manager, Mine this position ensures the accurate and efficient geological control of mining activities, optimizes recovery, minimizes dilution, and supports the long‑term strategic mine plan. The Superintendent will lead and mentor a team of geologists and geological technicians, driving continuous improvement in geological practices and data management.
Relocation support is available; candidates with relevant experience living outside of Northern British Columbia and/or outside of Canada will be considered.
Responsibilities- Direct and manage all aspects of daily production geology, including blast hole logging, geological mapping, and ore/waste delineation.
- Oversee and optimize grade control procedures to ensure accurate ore selectivity and minimize dilution and ore loss.
- Implement and maintain robust QA/QC protocols for all geological sampling and assaying.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of geological information to the mine planning and operations teams. Support the geological modeling and resource estimation processes, working closely with corporate geology teams and external consultants.
- Contribute to the annual mineral reserve and resource updates, ensuring compliance reporting standards.
- Conduct reconciliation of geological models against production data, identifying variances and driving improvements.
- Plan, supervise, and execute infill, condemnation, and exploration drilling programs within the mine footprint.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of geologists and geological technicians, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Manage team schedules, performance reviews, and professional development plans.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration within the geology team and with other departments.
- Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all geological activities comply with company OHS&E policies, provincial regulations, and best industry practices.
- Conduct regular safety observations, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure environmental compliance in all geological field activities.
- Oversee the integrity and management of geological databases and information systems.
- Identify and implement new geological technologies and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare and present regular geological reports, including daily/weekly/monthly production summaries, reconciliation reports, and technical presentations to various stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with the Manager, Mine Operations, and other departmental heads to align geological activities with overall mine objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng. – Geological) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), or eligibility to register.
- Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive experience in open-pit mining geology, with significant exposure to gold and copper deposits.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or senior geological role, preferably in a large-scale mining operation.
- Proven experience in grade control, geological modeling, drilling supervision, and reconciliation.
- This position is based at the Mine site where camp accommodations will be provided. The work rotation will either be four (4) days on and three (3) days off, working ten (10) hour shifts or seven (7) on and seven (7) off, working twelve (12) hour days.
- The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.
