West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Cariboo Pulp is currently recruiting for a 4th or 3rd Class Power Engineer. Reporting to the Shift Engineer, the power engineer is responsible for ensuring consistent operations of Steam Plant equipment. As a member of this high performing team you will also be responsible for working safely within the pulp mill.
Responsibilities
Maintaining a safe work environment
Ensuring consistent operations of the Steam Plant in a pulp mill
Work toward achieving operating target goals
Facilitating the reliable supply of services to the mill
Operating in a shift crew
Operating a wide variety of equipment including:
Power/package boilers
Turbo-generators
Chemical recovery boiler
Recaust & Lime Kiln
Evaporators and concentrators
Water treatment and Effluent treatment plants
Hog conveyors and outside services etc.
Qualifications
Experience as a power engineer with increasing responsibility
A 4th or 3rd class power engineering certificate
Proven ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
Strong organizational and communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and team‑building skills
Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
Desire to progress, learn, grow, and succeed
Ability to work 12‑hour shifts
Compensation Package
The hourly pay rate for this position will follow the collective agreement between Unifor 1115 and Cariboo Pulp Ltd. The current starting rate in the department is $35.30/hour.
Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.
