Job OverviewWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Addiction Wellness Advisor to join our dynamic healthcare team. The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority is a proactive and growing healthcare organization that provides health program support to its four northern partners: PAGC, MLTC, LLRIB, and PBCN.
ResponsibilitiesThe Addictions Wellness Advisor is responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies related to the Substance Use and Addiction program. This position supports NITHAs second-level service providers and works collaboratively with the four NITHA partners to develop a comprehensive framework and model of service delivery that encompasses prevention, assessment, education, intervention, treatment, and aftercare for substance use and addiction.
The Addictions Wellness Advisor will work closely with the NITHA Mental Wellness Advisor and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and promote harm reduction strategies, relapse prevention, and long-term sobriety.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling from a recognized university or a relevant field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
- Must be eligible or registered with a professional association or licensing/credentialing bodies such as the CADC, CACCF, CCAC, or ACHP.
- Certified in ASIST or CISM, and/or be willing to become certified.
- Ability to apply knowledge of best practices related to models of care, research, and trends in the field of substance use and addictions.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care approaches.
- Provide evidence of previous proposal/policy framework development.
- Knowledge of community development.
- Experience working respectfully with First Nations people and organizations with cultural awareness, knowledge and sensitivity.
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
