As we continue to grow, we are excited to welcome an experienced Director, Systems Design and Delivery to join our collaborative team — a key player in supporting our mission to connect communities and transform Canadian infrastructure.

The Director, Systems Design and Delivery is responsible for engineering team oversight and management to ensure the successful design, development, and implementation of complex technical solutions. The incumbent will review specifications, assign tasks, and manage overall systems engineering requirements for various projects under the WGD Consulting umbrella. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the incumbent will lead cross-functional teams in the development of technology strategy, system innovation, and efficiency.

Under the direction of WGD Leadership, and working collaboratively with the Director of Engineering, the Director, of Systems Design and Delivery will develop, foster, and maintain an efficient and capable department of industry professionals to design and deliver complex infrastructure engineering projects.

• Define WGD’s engineering design and delivery process across the organization.
• Align the company’s engineering design and delivery process with client project agreements (PA’s).
• Lead the WGD Systems Design and Delivery group of subject matter experts (SME’s), analysts, and other support staff through the successful systems integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, analysts, and project managers to integrate components into larger systems.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Ensure that systems and solutions comply with industry standards, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Perform root cause analysis of problems and propose process/tool improvements.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure that systems meet or exceed performance, reliability, and security standards.
• Develop and manage the budget/workload for the engineering department, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for cost-effective project delivery.
• Gather engineering data for analysis, estimation, and proposals as directed by WGD Leadership.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to define technology roadmaps and ensure that systems engineering efforts support organizational goals.
• Analyze the Systems Design and Delivery group’s skillsets through resource gap analysis and define action plans to reduce gaps for critical skills.
• Communicate WGD vision within the Systems Design & Delivery group through alignment of practices and policies.
• Establish team and individual performance objectives, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions as required.
• Work closely with project managers to monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Foster sharing of best practices within the Systems Design and Delivery group and across the organization.

• Ongoing review of documents related to systems integration and engineering (technical and non-technical) for change requests.
