Position Summary

PDU Assembly Technicians assemble mechanical assemblies and attach electrical components, performing basic wiring functions (e.g., switches, breakers, electrical panels) on electrical equipment in a high-volume production line. Technicians cross-train between mechanical and electrical tasks and maintain a high-volume, high-efficiency, high-quality work ethic.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 3:30 pm (every other Friday off).

Essential Functions

Electrical and Mechanical Assembly
  • Follow and interpret technical assembly prints to build mechanical and bus bar assemblies; install electrical components including switches, instruments, relays, breakers, PLCs and other devices used in power equipment manufacturing and repair.
  • Position, align, or adjust mechanical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly.
  • Perform basic wiring functions and assemble wiring racks and electrical bus bars as required.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical, electronic and mechanical components to meet specifications.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnose causes of electrical or mechanical malfunctions; perform necessary repairs.
  • Assess reparability and cost to repair or refurbish equipment and replace defective parts.
  • Installations must comply with current electrical codes, customer specifications, and IE procedures and quality controls.
  • Ensure project completion, quality and on-time delivery according to the work schedule.
Tools and Equipment
  • Hand tools: wire strippers, crimpers, drill, utility knife
  • Overhead crane, forklift, hoists to assist in assembly and moving materials
  • Care for and maintain tools; store properly at end of shift
Other Essential Duties
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance; be on time
  • Follow IE core values and safety program, including Cardinal Safety Rules
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times
Requirements Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with industrial electrical distribution equipment or similar industry preferred
  • Ability to read and understand basic wiring schematics and layout diagrams
  • Experience with hand tools, crimpers, wire strippers, drills and electrical testing equipment (DVOM) preferred
  • Lift up to 75 lbs; push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team with minimal supervision
  • Confident in collaborating with technicians and management to maintain production flow and meet due dates
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work with co-workers, supervisors, and management
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and varied duties

Work Schedule:

Must be able to work a 40-hour week and overtime as required.
