Fleet Controller

Overview

Salary: R22,000.00 - R25,500.00 per month

Introduction:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fleet Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet, managing drivers, and maintaining effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2-4 years of experience in the road freight/logistics industry, particularly with taut liners and/or tipper trucks.

• Capture and update planned loads on Fleet Management Systems, and inform the Planner to allocate loads to trucks.
• Ensure drivers receive loading instructions, understand expectations, and are informed of any changes.
• Continuously monitor truck and driver movements to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure planned and scheduled loads are picked up and delivered on time, providing updates to stakeholders regarding progress and delays.
• Ensure that all POD and related documents are scanned and submitted by drivers via the in-cab tablet and that hard copies are handed in when in the yard.
• Monitor diesel consumption and driver efficiency, addressing poor performance with the Training Centre.
• Manage de-briefing sessions with truck drivers, addressing any queries or concerns.
• Update the daily attendance register of drivers and manage planned and unplanned time off.
• Maintain continuous communication with clients to update them on progress, changes, and to resolve any issues.
• Inform the Call Centre of any breakdowns or related issues, following up on ETA to resolve.

  Qualification:
  
  Qualification in Transport/Logistics is an advantage.
• Experience:
  
  2-4 years of experience as a Fleet Controller in the road freight/logistics industry.
• Experience in route planning & scheduling, truck monitoring, and driver management.
• Experience in client and relationship management.
• Experience in freight and logistics companies, specifically working with taut liners and/or tipper trucks (no buses, 3-ton, or 5-ton trucks).
• Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, and general computer literacy.
• Strong English language skills (read, write, and comprehend).
• Understanding or ability to communicate in Afrikaans.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle irregular or extended working hours.

• License: A valid drivers license and own transport are essential.
• Availability:
