PHP Developer

Software Company providing all-in-one property management solutions (PMS) to the hospitality industry based in Pretoria East is looking for a PHP Developer responsible for designing, developing and maintaining complex web applications, mentoring junior developers and leading code reviews.

Key responsibilities involve writing high-quality, secure and scalable code, optimizing applications and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from planning to deployment and maintenance.

Duties:

Application development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable web applications using PHP and its frameworks (like Laravel).
API development: Build and maintain APIs for data exchange between server and client applications.
Code quality and best practices: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
Collaboration: Work with product managers, designers, and other developers to define project requirements and objectives.
Optimization: Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance.
Testing: Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve application issues and performance bottlenecks.
Keep up with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Requirements:

Grade 12
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is often preferred.
At least 4+ years’ experience with PHP development.
Consuming REST API and JSON
Proficiency with one or more PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony).
Strong understanding of database systems (e.g., MySQL) and SQL.

Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and tools for deployment and infrastructure management.
Knowledge of version control systems like Git.

Experience with automated testing and continuous integration (CI/CD).
