Position: Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Commercial Vehicles (European Truck Brand)

Location: Centurion / Nelspruit/ Durban
Department: Workshop / Field Service
Reports to: Workshop Manager / Service Manager

A well-established organisation in the heavy commercial vehicle sector is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic with strong exposure to European truck brands. The ideal candidate must be skilled in diagnostics, servicing, and major repairs within a high-performing workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, servicing and repairs on heavy commercial vehicles.

  • Conduct major repairs including engine overhauls, gearbox repairs, clutch replacements and axle work.

  • Use OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.

  • Complete job cards, inspection sheets and service reports accurately.

  • Ensure all repairs meet OEM standards and internal quality guidelines.

  • Attend roadside breakdowns and perform field service repairs when required.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns.

  • Comply with all health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements.

  • Collaborate with the workshop team to improve productivity and processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Trade Test:
    Diesel Mechanic.

  • 3–5+ years’ experience working on heavy commercial vehicles, preferably European OEM brands (e.g. premium long-haul or distribution truck ranges).

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities (mechanical, electrical & electronic).

  • Experience using OEM diagnostic systems/tools.

  • Valid driver’s licence (EC/Code 14 advantageous).

  • Solid understanding of:

    • Engines

    • Gearboxes

    • Braking systems

    • Suspension

    • Pneumatics & hydraulics

    • Electrical systems

  • Willing to work overtime, standby and attend breakdowns.
