We are welcoming applications for a Travel Consultant, to start as soon as possible. Please read the below description very carefully, to understand what we are looking for in the ideal candidate, and how to apply correctly. We are very clear in what we want in the successful candidate - and you will know clearly if you are a good fit from the below.

Mzansi Experience is a small, but well-established DMC (destination management company), RENOWNED for excellent service, individual attention and providing travel packages with a difference! We provide set packages and custom itineraries for international clients (incoming travel) coming to visit Southern Africa, including South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe – and soon also East Africa.

List of duties (included but not limited to…)
  • Answer incoming enquiries for standard tours during office hours, including quoting on the correct pricing as per pricelist – this is for ALL online platforms, website and direct emails
  • Logging all sales and enquiries on the correct lists – SharePoint/Excel
  • Upsell additional services and products, e.g. extra game drives
  • Following up on quotes if no answer is received in 48 business hours (excludes weekends/holidays) - email
  • Daily check on availability with our lodges, to block out any fully booked dates (via email)
  • Processing successful bookings, e.g. client forms, invoicing documents, sending information to our admin/finance team, confirmations (email, Excel, PDF)
  • Check for booking availability with each booking, just to be sure the booking can be made – even though we monitor fully booked dates – via phone call/Whats App
  • Pricing updates on our online platforms, as and when necessary (normally once a week) - online
  • Sending out review requests on our online platforms, as soon as a tour has been completed. – online / email
  • Checking in with guests 7 days before departure (or closest business day before) that all arrangements are in order or if they need any further assistance. – email
  • Weekend or weekday after-hours duty as per schedule (normally once every two weeks) – includes points 1,2,3,7
Character fit / Skills required
  • Must have matric certificate
  • Willing to learn / Eager to work and able to think outside the box
  • Be fluent/native English and have impeccable writing skills
  • Knowledge of handling multiple inboxes on Outlook
  • Capturing data on Excel
  • Excellent time management (response time on requests) is highly important.
  • Be able to make basic tour cost calculations properly & accurately
  • Being able to work on your own, but also collaborate as part of a team
  • If not from the travel industry, must have an interest in the travel industry – otherwise you are not going to be a good fit to this company
  • Must be based in Pretoria / Centurion, so that on-the-job training can be done in person at our offices located in Garsfontein, Pretoria East.

Salary offered

The remuneration package for this role will be offered according to individual experience and ability. We are looking for the “right” person, not just to fill a role.

Salary structure

Basic Salary, uncapped commission on qualifying sales, incentives on sales targets reached, medical insurance cover (day-to-day).
