Responsibilities- Providing strategic leadership and operational oversight, in support of the Director, across all Tuks Sport clubs and facilities, supporting the Director in driving the full sporting pipeline and aligning activities with the University's and Tuks Sport’s visions and missions.
- To lead the strategic club management, planning, development, and implementation of Tuks Sport programmes and initiatives to ensure sustainable growth, effective structures and high-performing teams aligned with the Tuks Sport strategic objectives.
- To lead and manage the Tuks Sport Facilities Management Department, ensuring optimal use, maintenance, and development of sports infrastructure, while coordinating services and compliance with health, safety, and event regulations.
- Supports the drive for commercialisation and sustainability initiatives by identifying growth opportunities, developing business plans, securing external funding, and enhancing partnerships with industry, government, and stakeholders.
- Oversee staff and human resource management, including performance systems, recruitment, development, and participative leadership to ensure high standards of professionalism and service delivery within the clubs and facilities management.
- Ensure legal secretariat functions and governance compliance across Tuks Sport, clubs and facilities, interpreting legislation, managing bylaws and mandates, and maintaining alignment with UP, national and university sport regulations.
- Promote organisational effectiveness and professional standards in club and facility management through strategic planning, programme evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Postgraduate degree in Sport Management, Business Management, Human Movement Studies, Sports Law or a sport-related field.
- At least eight years (with 3 years in management and leadership) of experience managing a multi-sport organisation in an institution of higher learning or within similar type and size sporting organisations (including but not limited to Federations, Governing Bodies and Professional Sporting Franchises), and additional experience in the sport industry in the public or private domain.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Advanced knowledge of organisational and operational management.
- Advanced knowledge of club development, planning and management.
- Advanced knowledge of human capital management.
- Advanced knowledge of strategic and operational planning.
- Advanced knowledge of programme and project management.
- Advanced knowledge of financial management.
- Seasoned knowledge of facility management.
- Advanced communication skills (verbal and written).
- Advanced proficiency in computer literacy, including MS Office, G‑Suite.
- Master’s degree in Sport Management, Business Management, Human Movement Studies, Sports Law or a sport-related field.
- Certificate in Human Resource Management, Sport Business/Management, Sport-related field, Project Management or Management/Leadership Programmes.
- Five years’ experience in club and programme development, planning and management.
- Five years’ experience in providing strategic direction in professional commercial sport environment.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
