Overview
The Data centre Manager position entails the maintenance, support, and deployment of all hosting solutions along with associated support activities. Responsibilities include managing and maintaining Active Directory, overseeing corporate systems including email, collaboration tools, SQL servers, application servers, hosted file repositories, and cloud-based hosting environments. The role involves maintaining a monitoring system for fault detection, managing backups, and ensuring business continuity. The Data centre Manager will be accountable for delivering excellent IT services to all affiliated businesses and ensuring data centre infrastructure stability and performance, including integrated services like networks, IT security, and applications.
Responsibilities- Coordinating operational changes across all stakeholders
- Providing operational inputs into hosted infrastructure
- Managing day-to-day interactions with third-party suppliers
- Planning and implementing optimal technology services
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities
- Providing input into IT strategies related to the data centre environment
- Aligning IT services with business requirements
- Ensuring adherence to IT governance processes
- Serving as a point of escalation for unresolved issues
- Mentoring service desk employees for their growth
- Participating in migration projects between data centres when necessary
- Providing input in due diligence processes when required
- Grade 12, with a relevant tertiary qualification being advantageous (Cobit/ITIL)
- ITIL V4.0 certification
- A+ and N+ certifications
- Minimum work experience:
At least 8 years of experience in an IT environment with relevant IT infrastructure and data centre management experience
- Coordinating operational changes across all stakeholders
- Providing operational inputs into hosted infrastructure
- Managing day-to-day interactions with third-party suppliers
- Planning and implementing optimal technology services
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities
- Providing input into IT strategies related to the data centre environment
- Aligning IT services with business requirements
- Ensuring adherence to IT governance processes
- Serving as a point of escalation for unresolved issues
- Mentoring service desk employees for their growth
- Participating in migration projects between data centres when necessary
- Providing input in due diligence processes when required
- Exceptional knowledge of cloud data centres, physical data centres, hosting platforms, IoT, and ITIL principles
- Experience in crisis management and critical thinking
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain sustainable relationships with stakeholders
- Knowledge of different infrastructure architecture frameworks
