SAP Functional Consultant; Expert

We are seeking an experienced SAP Functional Consultant (Expert) to lead operational excellence within a complex SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) landscape. This role focuses on Dev Ops-led operations, system stability, incident management, and continuous improvement for warehouse and internal logistics processes.

The successful candidate will manage a large operations team, ensure high system availability, drive root-cause analysis, and support ongoing enhancements within a global, Agile enterprise environment.

Product Scope

The Manual Warehouse & Internal Call Off product includes:

• Manual warehouse administration and control
• Internal call-off processes
• Labeling and data consistency
• Non-series material handling and launch warehouse operations
• Stock and inventory management

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the SAP EWM operations team (20+ Dev Ops engineers)
• Oversee day-to-day incident management, support, and continuous improvement activities
• Plan, organize, and participate in 24/7 support operations
• Coordinate SAP maintenance, system changes, and technical projects across the EWM landscape
• Monitor system health and perform proactive checks, including dump and trace analysis
• Provide 2nd level escalation support for critical incidents and coordinate resolution with development and infrastructure teams
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement measures to prevent recurring issues
• Support go-live planning, cutover activities, and quality assurance for EWM rollouts and enhancements
• Manage batch job scheduling, monitoring, and administration
• Enforce SAP security, controls, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with development teams on new transactions, roles, and access requirements
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge assets
• Facilitate high-priority incident calls and communicate business impact and risk
• Consolidate and present operational KPIs and performance reporting
• Coach and train team members and end-users to improve operational capability
• Manage stakeholder communication and present technical insights to business and IT leadership

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven expertise in SAP configuration and operations within complex enterprise landscapes
• Strong experience with SAP system monitoring, health checks, and dump/trace analysis
• Hands-on knowledge of cross-module integration (EWM, MM, PP, FI, CO, LE)
• Experience managing technical operations or Dev Ops teams supporting SAP environments
• Strong understanding of Dev Ops practices and operational governance
• Ability to plan and execute SAP maintenance and system changes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for production incident resolution
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
• Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and SAP Solution Manager
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences

Advantageous Skills

• Experience with SAP HANA and ABAP (EWM performance and enhancements)
• Knowledge of SAP EWM integrations with LE, PP, MM, SD, and warehouse automation technologies
• Experience with SAP Fiori and modern SAP UI technologies
• Exposure to cloud and middleware technologies within SAP landscapes
• Experience with test automation and management tools (e.g., Tosca, Xray, Xsuite) and CI/CD for SAP
• Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM frameworks
• Experience with SAP Cloud ALM (CALM)
• Knowledge of SAP security and authorization concepts, particularly for EWM
• Willingness to travel internationally when required

Qualifications & Experience

• Typically 6+ years of SAP operations experience, including EWM-related projects
• Experience delivering system maintenance and non-functional projects in SAP environments
• IT degree or equivalent technical qualification
• Background knowledge of ABAP and HANA is advantageous
• Experience with project management methodologies in SAP environments
