The purpose of this role is to analyse and interpret business requirements, translating them into comprehensive functional and technical specifications to enable the effective design, configuration, integration, and support of information systems and applications. This role serves as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring seamless alignment between business processes, data flows, and technology solutions to deliver optimal business outcomes.

The position reports to a Senior Manager:
Strategy and Enterprise Architect.

• Align technology solutions with organizational strategy by translating business needs into clear functional and technical specifications that drive efficient, scalable, and value-adding system designs, integrations, and enhancements.
• Enable enterprise-wide process and data optimization by acting as a strategic liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring cohesive workflows, accurate data flows, reduced delivery risks, and technology solutions that support long-term organizational goals.
• Business Engagement and Requirements Elicitation:
  Engage with business stakeholders and respective business analysts to understand business requirements, objectives, and challenges; translate business needs into detailed functional, non-functional, and integration requirements; conduct feasibility studies and impact assessments for proposed system changes or enhancements.
• Develop system specifications, interface designs, data mappings, and sequence diagrams (BPMN 2.0 / UML).
• Produce key system analyst artifacts including data mapping specifications (source-to-target), logical data model/ERD, integration mapping and error-handling framework, test case guidelines, and change impact assessment and transition/handover documents.
• Data Integrity and System Quality:
  Ensure consistency, integrity, and accuracy of data across transactional, analytical, and reporting systems; support system configuration, testing, and user acceptance phases; document and manage defects and resolutions.
• Governance, Traceability and Knowledge Management:
  Maintain system documentation repositories with traceability and version control; contribute to architecture governance forums by providing artifacts; facilitate knowledge transfer and second-line system support during and post-deployment.
• Stakeholder Management:
  Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders; collaborate with developers, solution, data, and integration architects; define end-to-end system design specifications and ensure alignment with enterprise standards; work with teams to define and test data exchange mechanisms (API, ETL, Snap Logic pipelines, or batch interfaces).
• People Management:
  Manage own performance; participate in transformation, culture and diversity initiatives; commit to continuous learning and remaining current with industry trends; willingness to work extra hours.
• Financial and Operational Management:
  Contribute to centre budget compilation and manage project expenditure; ensure compliance with governance processes, policies and processes; manage supply chain processes within own functional area.
• Other Responsibilities:
  
  Perform and/or manage other projects, tasks and assignments delegated by the supervisor as required.

Education:
This position requires a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s (NQF7) degree in ICT (Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology and Engineering) or related field.

Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Systems Analyst or similar role.
• Experience with enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, or custom-built systems).
• Strong understanding of SDLC, agile methodologies, and system integration concepts.
• Experience in creating functional specifications, process maps, and data models.
