Overview
The Department of Tourism invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Human Resources (HR) Clerk position on a 6-month contract based in Pretoria
. This opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking hands-on experience in public service human resource administration
, including recruitment, PERSAL processing, and employee benefits administration.

- Salary Package
: R228 321 per annum
Plus 37% in lieu of service benefits - : 1/2026
- Knowledge of relevant HR legislation, policies, and prescripts
- Understanding of Human Resource practices within the Public Service
- Working knowledge of the PERSAL system
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility and ability to work effectively in a team
Added Advantages:
- Possession of a PERSAL certificate
- Experiential learning or practical exposure in the HR field
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to the HR unit, including but not limited to:
- Supporting recruitment, selection, and appointment processes
- Sorting, capturing, and numbering job applications
- Planning and arranging logistics for meetings
- Attending meetings and recording minutes
- Drafting HR submissions, offer letters, and regret letters
- Coordinating and facilitating personnel suitability checks
- Capturing and processing recruitment and benefits-related transactions on PERSAL
- Administering conditions of service and employee benefits
- Processing leave applications, verifying documentation, and capturing leave on PERSAL
- Printing and managing HR documents via PERSAL and EDMS
- Liaising with finance regarding approved leave gratuity payments
- Responding to employee enquiries related to leave and benefits
- Managing employee records, including opening, auditing, and maintaining staff files
- Capturing beneficiary nominations and supporting pension withdrawal processes
- Providing general administrative support within the HR unit
