Assistant Aging Services Administrator
ResponsibilitiesUnder general direction, performs major daily and project/program based administrative duties for the Department of Aging. Recommends and administers departmental policies and procedures. Prepares regular and special reports related to departmental operations. Performs other job-related duties as required.
- Be a first point of contact for older adults and adults with disabilities seeking support, responding to referrals and service requests by phone, email, and in person.
- Build meaningful connections with clients by listening carefully, assessing both immediate and long-term needs, and helping them navigate available resources.
- Conduct in-depth, person-centered assessments that honor each client’s goals, values, and preferences.
- Create and carry out individualized assistance plans that connect clients to services that improve safety, independence, and quality of life.
- Coordinate and complete tasks needed to put plans into action, problem-solve barriers, and adapt services as needs change.
- Follow up with clients to ensure solutions are working and identify opportunities for additional support.
- Keep clear, accurate, and timely client records using the designated data system.
- Represent the program in the community by attending and assisting with outreach events and presentations that bring services directly to residents.
- Serve as a community resource by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of public, private, and governmental social service agencies that support older adults and adults with disabilities, ensuring accurate and meaningful connections to services.
- Play an active role in shaping an age-friendly city by participating in initiatives and activities aligned with the Age Friendly Cleveland Plan, supporting policies and practices that improve quality of life for older adults.
- Provide flexible, hands-on program support across a wide range of Aging programs, responding to evolving needs and contributing to the success of multiple initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree required, those in Social Work, Social Services, Gerontology, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology, Public Health, Health Services, or closely related field from a four-year accredited college or university are preferred;
Master’s Degree is preferred. Two years of full-time experience in Human Services required, experience working with the elderly and/or disabled adults is preferred. Substitution:
Post graduate education in one of the above fields may substitute for experience on a year-for year basis). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites. Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required. Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds. Must comply with the fingerprint-based records check under RCS 173.394. Strong verbal, written, oral, electronic communication, and public speaking skills are required.
