The Emergency Care Assistant will practice as a clinical assistant within the emergency medical care and rescue environment, replacing the Basic Ambulance Assistant Course as the entry qualification into emergency medical services. They will work under the guidance of Emergency Care Technicians, Emergency Care Practitioners, and Medical Officers across a variety of settings, providing supportive pre‑hospital services.

• Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
• Administer patient care within scope of practice
• Report near misses, slips, and adverse events
• Maintain a positive public image of ER24

• Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care (essential)

American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.

• None (essential minimum experience)

1‑year operational experience as an Emergency Care Assistant.

• Application of best practice
• EMS environment
• English language (verbal and written)
• Familiarity with facilities, travel routes, and geographical area
• HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
• Patient report forms
