To deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care according to the Scope of Practice

• Deliver safe, comprehensive and quality peri-operative nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing and surgical interventions
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged

ESSENTIAL

EDUCATION:

Bachelors of Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing leading to registration

DESIRED

EDUCATION:

Diploma in Operating Room Nursing / Certificate in Peri-operative Nursing Science

ESSENTIAL

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

1 year’s experience in an operating theatre environment (preferably with Cath Lab experience)

• Infection prevention and control
• Pharmacology
• Scientific nursing principles and process
• Nursing record keeping
• Patient assessment skills
• Nursing processes and procedures
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
• Relevant nursing legislation
• Basic life support trained (ACLS; ATLS; PALS training for specialised wards)
• Risk identification
