The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is inviting applications for eight (8) SHEQ Internship positions as part of its 24-month structured internship programme. This opportunity is ideal for graduates who want practical experience in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) within a professional scientific and regulatory environment.
Council for Geoscience Internship Overview- Position: SHEQ Intern
- Number of Posts: 8
- Duration: 24 Months (Fixed-Term Contract)
- Monthly Stipend: R13 000
- Locations: Pretoria, Bellville, Polokwane, Gqeberha, and Pietermaritzburg
Successful candidates will receive hands‑on training and exposure in the following areas:
- Assisting with the implementation of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) systems
- Supporting workplace safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety standards, including PPE usage
- Assisting with SHEQ documentation, reporting, and record‑keeping
- Providing administrative support to the SHEQ unit
- Participating in training sessions, workshops, and continuous development initiatives
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- National Diploma (NQF Level
6) in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field - A relevant Degree will be an added advantage
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
