Sensor System Engineer

Role Overview

A hands-on Sensor Systems Engineer to support the integration, deployment, and continuous improvement of our sensor-based systems. This role focuses on executing sensor integration projects across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. You will work closely with senior engineers (including embedded firmware specialists) to ensure systems are correctly integrated, tested, deployed, and refined in real-world environments.

• Execute sensor integration projects from design through to field deployment
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, and firmware components into complete systems
• Support new project development through sensor selection, validation, and system testing
• Design and model mechanical components and assemblies
• Perform mechanical simulations and stress‑related analysis where required
• Develop and maintain supporting tools or application‑level code (C, C++, Python)
• Work alongside embedded engineers to integrate and validate firmware within deployed systems
• Conduct field installations, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation
• Contribute to continuous improvement of existing systems for reliability and manufacturability
• Document system configurations and lessons learned

• 3-5 years relevant engineering experience
• Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Experience contributing to projects through the full lifecycle
• Comfortable taking responsibility for defined work streams with technical oversight

• Sensors and Systems:
• Stress monitoring or strain‑related measurement systems
• Sensor integration and field deployment
• Exposure to data acquisition and system validation

• Working knowledge of C, C++, and/or Python
• Comfortable modifying or supporting firmware integration (not firmware architecture ownership)

• Integration of electro‑mechanical systems
• Practical understanding of electrical interfacing and system wiring

• Mechanical simulation and analysis exposure
• CAD experience:
  Fusion 360, FreeCAD, or Solid Works
