Lead Secondary School Mathematics Teacher

Our client, a prestigious educational institution located in Pretoria, Gauteng, ZA, is seeking an exceptional Lead Secondary School Mathematics Teacher. This role is ideal for an experienced educator passionate about fostering a love for mathematics and guiding student success. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective mathematics instruction across various secondary school grades, developing innovative curriculum, and leading a team of dedicated mathematics educators.

This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of on-site instruction and remote preparation and collaboration, providing flexibility while maintaining a strong presence within the school community.

• Develop and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons aligned with the national curriculum and school’s educational philosophy.
• Create a positive, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
• Assess student progress through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
• Lead and mentor the mathematics department, providing guidance and support to other teachers.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary projects, and school-wide initiatives.
• Engage parents and guardians in their child’s learning journey through regular communication and parent-teacher meetings.
• Stay abreast of the latest pedagogical trends and technologies in mathematics education.
• Organize and supervise mathematics-related extracurricular activities and competitions.
• Contribute to the overall positive culture and academic excellence of the school.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a relevant subject area.
• Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in secondary school mathematics.
• Proven leadership or mentoring experience within an educational setting.
• Deep understanding of mathematical concepts and effective teaching methodologies.
• Proficiency in utilizing educational technology and digital learning tools.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.
