Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Catering Supervisor within our Catering department based at Biggart Hospital. The preferred candidate will have kitchen management skills, experience in large scale catering, preferably within the NHS would be advantageous, but not essential as full training will be given. You should have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

Good communication skills are essential. The main kitchen at Biggart Hospital assists in the service delivery, for Staff and Visitors, including therapeutic diets to patients, as well as meal services for the staff and the public. In addition, we also provide hospitality for meetings and functions. Duties will include the man management of staff, responsibility for communication and direction of all staff within your area.

Organising staff duty rosters to include leave, in house training. Processing and interpretation of Patient menu cards and the specific service of patient meals. Maintaining a high standard of hygiene, recording and monitoring data for HACCP and Environmental Health. Customer care, general catering duties, a degree of flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work additional hours during periods of leave.

A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, supervisory/ experience is essential.

Hours:

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.

What you will do:

The post holder is required to supervise and organise Catering Assistants to deliver a quality service as directed by policies and procedures and work closely between the Kitchen, Dining Room/Retail outlets and wards.
