Social worker – Adoption Assessment Team

Locum Social Worker – Adoption Assessment Team in Preston UK, earning £36 hourly over a 3-month period. A fantastic full-time opportunity awaits in assisting the Adoption Assessment Team within Lancashire and beyond. This role invites a skilled social worker to engage deeply with the community, helping to form life‑long connections and family bonds through adoption.

With work spanning across Lancashire, Blackpool, and even occasionally out of the county, flexibility and mobility are key. If you have at least three years of experience in a local authority and have not held a permanent or fixed‑term position in the last 12 weeks, this rewarding position could be calling your name. Interviews will be held on 7th November.

What you will do:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of adoptive applicants, presenting detailed Prospective Adopter’s Reports to the Adoption Panel.
  • Involve yourself in planning and executing preparation and training sessions for adoptive applicants.
  • Guide adoptive applicants through the matching process, supporting them into placement.
  • Engage in the planning, facilitation, and operation of training events.
  • Embrace working as an integral team member, contributing to service development.
  • Participate in team and service meetings, as well as any relevant working groups or training sessions.
  • Contribute to the administrative, monitoring, and evaluation systems within the adoption service.
