We are excited to offer a permanent Electrician opportunity in HMP Kirkham, Freckleton Road, Kirkham, Preston, Lancashire, PR4 2RN
.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week
, Monday to Thursday 08:00–17:00 and Friday to Sunday 08:00–16:00. There is a 1 in 3 weekend rota with an additional 15% of basic salary; exact weekend(s) will be confirmed on acceptance of the role.

, we support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons. We help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
- Planned and preventative electrical maintenance and administrative duties aligned to tasks.
- Actively fault finding and problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
- Carry out like-for-like replacements and other electrical minor works with inspections and tests carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
- Ensure that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively to maintain a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.
- Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when requested.
- Ensure health and safety standards, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are consistently implemented across all relevant work streams.
- Assist with escorting duties and other duties as required.
- City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
- BS7671 18th Edition (we will consider 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition).
- Good working knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work at heights, independently, and use initiative.
- Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (Desirable).
- Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Basic IT skills.
