We are excited to offer a permanent Electrician opportunity in HMP Kirkham, Freckleton Road, Kirkham, Preston, Lancashire, PR4 2RN
.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week
, Monday to Thursday 08:00–17:00 and Friday to Sunday 08:00–16:00. There is a 1 in 3 weekend rota with an additional 15% of basic salary; exact weekend(s) will be confirmed on acceptance of the role.

What You Will Do
  • Planned and preventative electrical maintenance and administrative duties aligned to tasks.
  • Actively fault finding and problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
  • Carry out like-for-like replacements and other electrical minor works with inspections and tests carried out and results recorded in accordance with BS7671.
  • Ensure that all electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively to maintain a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.
  • Assist the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when requested.
  • Ensure health and safety standards, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are consistently implemented across all relevant work streams.
  • Assist with escorting duties and other duties as required.
What You Will Bring
  • City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
  • BS7671 18th Edition (we will consider 17th Edition with upskilling to 18th Edition).
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance operations.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work at heights, independently, and use initiative.
  • Understanding of fire alarm and CCTV systems (Desirable).
  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Basic IT skills.
