Advanced Apprentice Engineering Technician

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4 / A
• Must include Maths, English, and a Science or Technical Subject

Follow a structured program with training at the Academy for Skills and Knowledge in Samlesbury.

• Year 1:
  • You will undertake training at the Academy for Skills and Knowledge at Samlesbury.
  • You will be trained in both practical and theory‑based engineering.
  • You will learn the basics to give you a grounding for completing your placements.
• Years 2 to 4:
  • Most placements will be office based using computer‑based tools with interaction with our customers, suppliers and aircraft.
  • You will continue with academic studies, including an HNC in aeronautical Engineering (1 day a week at college).
  • You will complete six placements within the Air business.
  • You will gain experience in engineering areas including design, systems, in‑service support, flight test, mission systems and integration.
  • You will gain experience in the aircraft lifecycle.

• Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Support Technician
• Level 3 Diploma Manufacturing Systems Technology
• Encouraged to become accredited to a professional engineering institution such as the Royal Aeronautical Society or Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Starting from £18,018 with annual progression through the scheme duration.

• Please note you must not book any annual leave within the first 3 months of your apprenticeship. Following this, leave will be considered depending on the individual training delivery schedule and must be approved by your line manager.
