Consultant Psychiatrist – Forensic Psychiatry, Preston (10PA)

A full‑time (10PA) Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist will work as part of the Secure Services team based at Guild Lodge, Goosnargh, Preston, supporting mental healthcare services to local prisons and the inpatient secure wards. The postholder will also support training and teaching of medical students and resident doctors.

• Provide clinical care with a caseload of up to 12 acute and four long‑stay inpatients on secure wards.
• Deliver secure services to local prisons and negotiate prison service arrangements as part of job planning.
• Attend the Consultant On‑Call rota and participate in the secure ward clinical team.
• Involve in training and teaching of medical students and resident doctors at Guild Lodge.
• Contribute to the development of clinical and educational supervision within the Trust.

• Full GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register of the GMC (or eligibility for entry within 6 months of interview).
• Section 12 Approved status at commencement of employment and eligibility for Approved Clinician Status.
• Minimum of 2.5 SPAs as standard for a full‑time post.

• 5% payment of basic salary over 2 years (Golden Hello payment).
• Additional remuneration for participation on the Consultant On‑Call rota.
• Study Leave budget: £3,000 over 3 years or £5,000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants.
