Senior Estimator

Location: Higher Walton

Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their growing civil engineering team in Preston. They deliver projects from £100k to £10m across multiple sectors and have a strong pipeline for 2025 and beyond.

Role Overview
 
* Review project information and plan construction methods, programme and delivery strategy.
 
* Identify risks, opportunities and key win themes for tender submissions.
 
* Work with design and delivery teams to shape bids and challenge designs where needed.
 
* Price civil engineering works from first principles (earthworks, drainage, ducting, paving, etc.).
 
* Prepare construction programmes (ASTA experience ideal, training available).
 
* Manage subcontract enquiries, analyse quotations and build comprehensive cost estimates.
 
* Present costs at internal reviews and ensure timely, compliant tender submissions.
 
* Follow up tenders and support ongoing commercial discussions.
About You
 
* Background with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil engineering contractor.
 
* Strong first-principles estimating skills and knowledge of pricing/quantification methods.
 
* Experience with Conquest and ASTA Power project is desirable.
 
* Excellent communication, organisation and ability to work under deadlines.
 
* Professional memberships (RICS/CIOB/ICE etc.) are advantageous.
 
* Confident with MS Office and estimating systems.
