American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular ICU experience and proficiency with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery patients.
Details- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in an acute care hospital setting
- 12-bed unit caring for patients with diagnoses including AMI, CAD, and PVD
- Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Neo, Epi, Levo, Insulin, and Cardene
- In-room telemetry monitoring using Nihon Kohden; RNs are responsible for reading strips
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7 (department-specific, shared with ICU); equipment includes vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and Hi-Flow
- Intensivists in-house and charge nurse/house supervisor coverage available 24/7
- No nurse aides on the unit
- 12-hour night shifts on a 7/7 schedule
- Two weekend shifts required per pay period (approximately every two weeks); specific days vary based on unit needs
- On-call/standby requirement applies (maximum 3 per 12 weeks per contract)
- Floating required to ICU, PCU, MS, and Tele across both campuses, based on department skill needs; travelers are first to float
- Holiday coverage required
- Charting via Cerner EMR
- 13-week contract
- Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active, not pending
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS — pending certifications not accepted
- Experience with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery (OHS) patients from the OR is required
- Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract confirmation
- Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
- Cannot have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered)
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Impella experience is desired but not required
- Cerner EMR experience is preferred
- A sterile technique skills test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation — pass/fail
- Failing either the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the sterile technique test on the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status with Common Spirit facilities in Arizona and the Sacramento, CA region
- If applying as a travel duo, each clinician must have their own vehicle and should not expect to share a schedule
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)
