Job Summary
Provides basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs, documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history, assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures, sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures, prepares and may include administer medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician.
Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. The Medical Assistant II functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration, check‑in and scheduling of patients.
- Maintain hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collect laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.
- Assist the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
- Retrieve necessary equipment and supplies.
- Assist in patient/equipment preparation.
- Perform follow‑up actions as directed.
- Document clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.
- Record readings in an accurate and timely manner.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Medical Assistant certification or completion of a US Armed Forces medical services training program.
- Computer program proficiency for checking‑in and scheduling patients.
- Basic Life Support - CPR.
- Previous Medical Assistant experience.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
- Experience in designated specialty area.

Pay Range$18.00 - $23.14 per hour
