Performs review of building permits, planning applications, historic preservation, rezoning requests, site plans, temporary permits, variances, conditional uses, and other private development processes related to assigned area; answers general questions as well as confers, advises, and makes recommendations to developers, architects, builders, attorneys, contractors, engineers, and the public; and creates technical reports and makes presentations for the Council, management and staff, commissions, boards, and the public.
EssentialDuties:
- Analyzes and processes rezoning requests, preliminary and final plats, commercial and residential site plans, development agreements, permits, variances, conditional uses, temporary use permits, historic preservation, and other private development processes as required.
- Performs building permit and planning application reviews.
- Researches planning issues and prepares recommendations.
- Answers planning questions from citizens, developers, and other interested parties.
- Confers with and advises architects, builders, attorneys, contractors, engineers, and the public on the City of Prescott's General Plan and/or specific plans, development regulations, and policies.
- Designs and prepares illustrative, graphic, and narrative presentation materials for public hearings and meetings; makes presentations; and gives public speeches.
- Utilizes the City's mapping programs; collects, records, analyzes and maintains statistical and demographic databases.
- Retrieves, utilizes, inputs, and manages data within the project/permitting/plan review modules of established Department software.
- Prepares and presents technical staff reports for the Planning Commission, City Council, and other boards, commissions, and citizen committees.
- Reviews or helps draft changes to zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, and general and neighborhood plans.
- Participates in public meetings and public hearings; makes presentations to elected officials, appointed boards/commissions, staff, and public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (master's degree preferred) in Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.
