The Dean of Health Sciences will provide visionary leadership for the continued development of the Health Sciences Division, nursing and allied health programs, resources, and future direction in compliance with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), JCERT, third party regulating organization, Higher Learning Commission, and other applicable standards. Reporting to the Vice President of Workforce Development and Health Sciences, the Dean of Health Sciences will represent the division as a member of the college’s management team and will work collaboratively with college and community partners to achieve successful outcomes.
The Dean will prepare and administer division budgets, pursue new financial resources, grants and other funding sources in support of departmental and future program growth; guide the recruitment, appointment, retention, and long‑term success of faculty, staff, and students. The Dean will be innovative in maintaining program excellence while adapting to the evolving landscape of higher education and healthcare workforce needs.

In accordance with R4-10-203:- Administers the nursing education programs
- Directing activities related to academics, personnel, curriculum, resources, facilities, services, program policies, and program evaluation
- Preparing and administering the budget
- Minimum of three (3) years work experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care
- Minimum of one (1) academic year fulltime experience teaching in or administering a nursing education program leading to licensure
- Evaluating nursing program faculty members and department staff
- Participates in program related Advisory Committees and District Committees on various issues related to programming and workforce development.
- Direct and coordinate activities of Health Science Program Directors, faculty, support sta?
- Plans and implements professional development activities for faculty and staff
- Supervises the preparation of catalog material for the academic program
- Determines scheduling of courses and recommends implementation of additional courses for the academic programs
- Maintains current knowledge of, and interprets and applies Federal, State, and related legislation to Health Science program areas.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Administers the nursing education programs
- Directing activities related to academics, personnel, curriculum, resources, facilities, services, program policies, and program evaluation
- Preparing and administering the budget
- Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care
- Minimum of one (1) academic year full‑time experience teaching in or administering a nursing education program leading to licensure
- Evaluating nursing program faculty members and department staff
- Experience in nursing program accreditation (ACEN or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education - CCNE)
- Experience in Health Science program curriculum, nursing curriculum development and instructional design
- Strong organizational leadership and computer skills
- An e?ective communicator with excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
- Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
- Other duties as assigned
- Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) or an Ed.D with a Master Degree in Nursing
- Successful progressive experience in higher education
- Transformational leadership, team building, sta? building and organizational skills.
- Ability and desire to be collaborative, solutions-oriented leader to help inspire change
- An understanding of the role of information technology, informatics, and other learning modalities in educating the next generation of nurses
- An ability to advocate e?ectively for the nursing profession and education, within the college and at the local, state, and national levels
- Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment
