Yavapai College’s Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program seeks an innovative instructor who blends teaching with program development. This role designs workforce-aligned curriculum, builds student support systems that guide learners into training and employment, and delivers engaging instruction that develops academic, digital, and career readiness skills.

The instructor plays a key role in connecting ABE students to workforce opportunities through Integrated Education and Training (IET) and partnerships with WIOA Title I-B services. By combining instruction, guidance, and collaboration, this position helps adult learners achieve success in college, career, and life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teach ABE/ASE/HSE Courses – 60%

  • Teach academic and workplace skills aligned with Arizona Adult Education Standards.
  • Integrate digital literacy, employability, and career exploration into lessons.
  • Connect instruction to Yavapai College CTE and workforce programs.
  • Use assessment data (TABE, GED Ready, ARISE) to guide learning and maintain accurate records.

Workforce Curriculum Development & Innovation – 30%

  • Design and refine curriculum that supports workforce and college transitions.
  • Guide students through college and workforce training pathways.
  • Create contextualized projects linking academic skills to hands-on career applications.
  • Connect learners with YC resources such as American Job Center, CTE programs, and community partners.

Assessment, Data, and Compliance – 10%

  • Administer and track assessments (TABE, GED Ready).
  • Ensure accurate data entry and compliance with program and grant standards.
  • Support testing schedules and meet MSG performance goals.
  • Contribute to program improvement through collaboration and innovation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Eligible for or in possession of Arizona Adult Education Teacher Certification.
  • Experience teaching adult or secondary learners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Experience teaching in blended or virtual settings (e.g., Zoom, Canvas).
  • Ability to manage student data accurately and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Available to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends) and participate in professional learning.
  • Commitment to equity and supporting diverse adult learners
  • Master’s degree in Adult Education, TESOL, Counseling, or related field.
  • Experience in community college or higher education settings.
  • Knowledge of ADE-AES standards, WIOA Title I-B collaboration, and IET models.
  • Ability to design workforce-aligned curriculum and guide adult learners through career pathways.
  • Experience using the Arizona Adult Data Management System, Canvas, digital literacy tools, and career readiness platforms.
