Salary Range: $15.50 - $20.75 per hour-based on experience

Under general supervision, accomplishes specialized work in protecting life by preventing and responding to emergencies, assisting in instructions, and assisting in the operation of a public swimming pool; and performs related work as required.

• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Attends and participates in in-service training sessions.
• Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staffs.
• Enforces Pool Rules and regulations.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

• Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.
• Must be 15 years of age by Friday, May 22, 2026, to start work as a lifeguard.
• Must be available and flexible to work various hours during the week and weekend through Labor Day (exception for college guards).
• Some related work experience preferred but not required.
• Bonus potential based on hours worked
