About Us

Tidewater, Inc is currently seeking an intern level position to support the mid- and senior-level staff working in Tidewater’s environmental restoration and compliance divisions.

Responsibilities include:

(1) under general supervision conduct research, collect, analyze, and evaluate environmental and radiological samples to meet the needs of projects; (2) support the writing of proposals to perform environmental and radiological projects and reports based on findings from field sampling events; and (3) assist as field personnel during fieldwork, assisting in the collection, organization and managing of samples.

Tidewater was founded in 1983 as an industrial hygiene (IH) and environmental consulting services provider in Baltimore, Maryland. Today, Tidewater has over 140 employees performing work across three divisions involving environmental consulting, facilities, and construction. Our environmental division includes consulting, remediation, radiological, and IH service lines. Tidewater is headquartered in Elkridge, Maryland. We currently have eight offices throughout the United States including California, Ohio, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania with additional personnel working in Japan, Kenya, and Germany.

Our business spans over 75 multi-year government contracts and an average of 1,000 projects annually for Federal, State, municipal, and commercial clients worldwide.

Responsibilities Include
  • Data entry and record keeping
  • Build tables to effectively display data in a clear and concise manner
  • Create figures to support evaluation and interpretation of data
  • Work on planning and organizing field projects to efficiently deploy staff and perform work
  • Assist Senior Chemist in communicating with lab to plan field events and set field team up for success
  • Communicate with vendors to procure needed equipment
  • Prepare documents needed to be in regulatory compliance
  • Prepare field materials needed for sampling
  • Conduct field work
  • Assist Senior Chemist in communicating with lab
  • Perform sample collection
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors
  • Assist in post field work tasks

    Assist Senior Chemist in communicating with laboratories to meet needs of projects
  • Coordinate with subcontracted rental companies to close rental contracts
  • Create tables and figures to present data
  • Participate in report writing
  • Perform records searches of a variety of govern mentally managed sites
  • Online research and in person research
  • Develop records database to track all relevant materials
  • Write reports summarizing chronology of events within site bounds with attention to operations that may have caused contamination

Requirements
  • BS/BA degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Health Physics, Geology, Biology, or a similar degree.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and its associated programs.
  • Ability to enter and manage large quantities of data.
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively assist Project Managers to add value to projects.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work a typical 40 Hour work week (flexible schedule)
  • Desire to learn and expand relevant knowledge.
  • Experience with chemical analysis standards is a plus

    Environmental Conditions:

    The work entails field inspections of facilities and project sites. Work includes frequent walking, standing, and exposure to potential hazards such as traffic, heavy equipment, and adverse weather.
