Job Summary

Under minimal direction, this position is responsible for material planning, initiating, implementing, and contributing to the development of programs, tools, policies and procedures regarding inventory management, control, monitoring, and practices to meet project and production requirements. Reviews, evaluates, approves and releases purchase requisitions, transfers of stock, and expedites. Represents the organization as a primary contact, providing consultation to all levels of employees and external customers, including purchasing, production planning, warehouse, contracts, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure project and production requirements are met on schedule and within budget.
Acts in an advisory or leadership role to less experienced staff. This position involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
- Develop and maintain material requirements plans based on production schedules, engineering changes, and customer demand.
- Analyze inventory levels, usage trends, and lead‑times to ensure optimal stock and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
- Reviews, evaluates and approves MRP requirements, creates purchase requisitions, and inventory transfers to ensure project and production requirements are met.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve supply chain issues.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as material availability, on‑time delivery, shortages, and inventory accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support new product introductions and process improvements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for material‑related production delays, inventory variances or quality issues.
- Analyzes and resolves obsolete and excess inventory issues, some of which may be highly complex. Reviews and analyzes and contributes to ABC codes Material Master set‑up and order policies of parts.
- Reviews, analyzes, and resolves conflicts in supply and demand, and investigates as required. Presents findings and innovative solutions to management.
- Develop reports and procedures for inventory monitoring and control. Coordinate with IT in developing inventory data collection reports.
- Reviews, evaluates, and updates inventory control policy and procedures.
- Analyzes and maintains sufficient inventory levels to meet production, high‑time and repair requirements, while maintaining inventory level in accordance with management guidelines.
- Analyzes cycles count results and investigates discrepancies outside the specific tolerances.
- Reviews, analyzes and implements reorder points, safety stock levels, Kanban levels, Economic Order Quantity calculations.
- Consults on strategic material planning by applying knowledge of business and management principles.
- Reviews information to develop, evaluate, and implement creative solutions to highly complex problems.
- Functions in an advisory or leadership role and provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff.
- Manage age‑sensitive materials, including monitoring shelf life, expiration dates, and proper rotation to ensure all materials are used within their specified time frames.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for material handling, storage, and traceability.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field along with ten or more years of related experience in inventory planning and production control. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
