Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian Job, Poway, California, USA. Our client is seeking a full-time Overnight Emergency Veterinarian to join a dedicated after-hours critical care team at a busy 24/7 emergency hospital serving the San Diego region. This role is ideal for an emergency clinician who thrives in high-acuity overnight medicine and enjoys managing complex medical and surgical emergencies with confidence and autonomy.
The position focuses on overnight coverage Friday through Sunday, providing urgent and life-saving care to dogs, cats, and exotic pets. You will work closely with an experienced technical and support team to triage emergencies, perform diagnostics and surgery, manage hospitalized patients, and deliver compassionate client communication during critical moments.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure in California
- Strong interest and experience in emergency medicine and surgery
- Ability to work overnight weekend shifts (Friday–Sunday)
- Confident decision-making in fast-paced emergency settings
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Base salary range of $200,000–$250,000 USD
- Quarterly production plan with no deficit carryover
- Sign-on, retention, and relocation package up to $100,000
- Additional $20,000 signing incentive available (time-limited)
