Director Magnet Program – Nuvance Health
In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, the Director of Magnet Program assumes hospital-wide responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) designation programs, including the application, designation, and re-designation process. The Director serves as the ANCC program resource to the nursing leadership team, acts as a liaison to hospital departments, and provides consultative support to administration, nursing, non‑nursing employees, physicians, and the community.
The role promotes nursing excellence, empowerment through shared decision‑making, and professional development of nurses.
- Embrace a multidisciplinary collaborative approach throughout the ANCC accreditation process, serving as liaison between hospital leadership and Magnet stakeholders.
- Embodies the vision of Magnet through written works, public speaking, professional leadership, and research; designs and implements marketing initiatives and supports Magnet networking.
- Provides leadership, oversight, coordination, and facilitation for an action plan, project schedules, and Magnet budget; establishes a timeline and milestones to maintain Magnet focus across the organization.
- Facilitates the Nursing Excellence Steering Committee, coordinates meetings and activities, and maintains knowledge of Magnet designation requirements, incorporating updated standards into department operations.
- Oversees and maintains all relevant evidence files required for the narratives, collects and composes narrative descriptions that reflect nursing excellence per ANCC standards, and coordinates demographic data requirements for reporting.
- Coordinates the fulfillment of responsibilities outlined in the Pathway to Excellence / Magnet Recognition Program, ensuring eligibility requirements and standards are met and internalizing the required Components.
- Handles all aspects of the ANCC program‑specific document submission process, including application and supporting documentation, and coordinates the Magnet site visit.
- Provides consultative support to nursing leadership and staff regarding the Magnet journey, contributes to strategic planning, and promotes leadership in critical thinking, conflict management, and problem solving.
- Oversees the clinical practice coordinator, maintains data integrity, monitors nurse‑sensitive indicators, and supports compliance efforts with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of Research and Evidence‑Based Practice to support a formal nursing research program prioritized toward the strategic plan and Magnet requirements.
- Plans staff education and development programs to continually educate all employees along the ANCC Pathway to Excellence & Magnet Journey, mentors staff nurses as educators about the Magnet process, and serves as an educational resource to the nursing community.
- Maintains and models Nuvance Health values, demonstrates regular reliable attendance, and performs other duties as required.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s must be in Nursing).
- Current registered nurse license in New York State and/or Connecticut, with specialized certifications as needed.
- 8–12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership/management experience.
Manual:
