Patient Care Technician II – Part Time – Evening

Perform patient care activities and functions that are non‑professional services. Address the personal, physical and emotional needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patient and family. Practice must be consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Medical Center administration.
Education & Experience- High school diploma or GED.
- AHA BLS provider certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum of 3 months experience as a PCT or junior semester in an Associate or Bachelor’s nursing program.
- General knowledge of high school subject matter including sciences, simple medical procedures/terminology and office equipment.
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Assist in the delivery of patient care by performing specific patient care tasks per scope of service and as directed by the registered nurse.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and transport of patients.
- Obtain and record vital signs and blood glucose tests; report abnormalities promptly.
- Demonstrate advanced skills such as oral suctioning, enemas, clean dressings after RN assessment, tube feeding set‑up, external catheter set‑up, post‑mortem care and suction canister set‑up.
- Communicate effectively with the health‑care team; document legibly on all hospital forms; give end‑of‑shift reports.
- Provide personalized care to patients and families; identify and document special needs.
- Utilize available educational materials; attend mandatory in‑services to maintain unit competencies.
- Use equipment and time safely and cost‑effectively.
- Assist with code situations under the direction of the Code Blue Team.
- Adhere to infection control practices, safety and security policies; use two identifiers for blood sampling or procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of unit areas; perform cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Model REACH values.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as required.
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
Occupational: some occupational risk.
Physical effort: very heavy effort, may exert up to 50 lbs of force.
Physical environment: significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
CompensationSalary range: $21.82 hourly.
