Salary/Pay RateThe Marist School of Science is seeking a Founding Program Director and Department Chair for a planned new Bachelor of Science program with a Nursing major. During the initial two years of program development, this will be a 12-month position with a total compensation range of $130,000‑$140,000 plus an annual bonus of $28,000. After the program has launched, the position will revert to a 10-month position with a total compensation range of $130,000 to $140,000 per year.
Job SummaryMarist University is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Founding Program Director and Department Chair for a bachelors’ program in nursing, to be housed within the School of Science. The Founding Program Director will serve as the academic and administrative lead for the nursing department and oversee a state‑of‑the‑art nursing facility. The Program Director will join Marist’s School of Science at an exciting time as it prepares to launch several new programs that will be housed in a dedicated new facility.
The successful candidate will join a school that contains a blend of science and health related programs, including a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies, Doctor of Physical Therapy and undergraduate departments that provide majors in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental science and medical laboratory sciences.
The Founding Program Director and Department Chair will be responsible for helping gain NYSED approval for the nursing program, including hiring of faculty, curriculum refinement, assisting with the design of a new dedicated space for nursing, and ultimately achieving CCNE accreditation. Once the program is established, the program director will be responsible for ongoing assessment of the program, overseeing curriculum, scheduling and staffing courses, leading program faculty and staff, supporting faculty development, overseeing the administrative work of the program including budgeting, and contributing to the teaching and clinical mission of the program.
The Founding Program Director and Department Chair will have demonstrated teaching, clinical and management experience in a higher education setting; effective project management skills, excellent communication and collaborative skills; and significant experience with the CCNE accreditation process and standards. The Founding Program Director and Department Chair will be a visionary and intellectual leader that can help the school build a program that prepares students for the future of nursing and healthcare where technology and new teaching methodologies are changing the landscape of higher education.
This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position that will report to the Dean of the School of Science and will work closely with students, program faculty and staff. The position can be tenure-track or non‑tenure track, dependent on a candidate’s ability to develop and maintain a program of scholarly achievement. Salary and rank for the position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The program will be housed in a new facility with state‑of‑the‑art teaching spaces including a simulation suite, skills lab and active learning classrooms.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution
- A current and unencumbered New York registered nurse (RN) license or a current and unencumbered multi‑state license issued by another compact state
- Prior leadership or administrative experience in a CCNE‑accredited nursing program
- Support the University and program missions
- Oversee ongoing program assessment to improve student learning and assess overall program effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with CCNE standards and processes that lead to continued accreditation
- Exercise general administrative authority and responsibility for all aspects of the program
- Recruit and supervise faculty and professional staff and provide professional development
- Administer the teaching and advising of the department
