Position Title: Assistant Professor or Professional Lecturer in Games & Emerging Media
Department/School: School of Communication & the Arts
Salary/Pay Rate: $75,000 - $80,000
Job Summary: The Department of Art & Digital Media at Marist University invites applications for the position of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Professional Lecturer of Games and Emerging Media to join the School of Communication and the Arts beginning in Fall 2026. The faculty member will be teaching game programming, UX, and/or games business courses in the Games & Emerging Media program (which is recognized as one of the top 50 game programs in the world by Princeton Review).

- An M.F.A., Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant discipline by the time of appointment, and/or extensive professional experience in the games industry.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: game development, Unity engine, Unreal engine, C++, virtual reality, augmented reality, modding, eSports, games business, and/or UX/UI.
- Ability to teach courses that align with their expertise, selected from a range of courses such as Unreal Engine, Advanced Unity, Level Design, Business of Games, Game Programming, eSports, Virtual Reality, Advanced UX, and/or UX and AI.
- Ability to interact effectively orally and in writing with a culturally diverse range of students and colleagues.
- An approach to research and creative practices in gaming and UX that is interdisciplinary.
Applicants should have the ability to teach in the field of game development, as well as the ability to help develop new curricula in this field. Applicants for the tenure-track position should have a well-articulated research and/or creative agenda in games and emerging media. Required duties besides teaching and research include engagement in university and professional services such as advising/mentoring students, serving on department, school, or university committees.

- Contact with industry leaders and the ability to expand partnerships, internships, and career opportunities for students.
- Ability to organize and run gaming events, including game jams.
- Significant professional experience in game programming, UX, art, or design.

- 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
- Tuition Benefits:
Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26. - University pays 100% tuition only. Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
