Per Diem Surgical Physician Assistant - Vassar Brothers Medical Center

The Surgical PA Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a board‑certified per diem-time Physician Assistant to join its team. This hospital‑based group offers a supportive and team‑based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties. The position provides an opportunity for growth and exposure to high acuity patients, complex procedures and a high volume of DaVinci robotic surgery cases.

• OR first assisting – case coverage includes General Surgery, Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, GYN/Gyn Onc, Labor & Delivery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Head and Neck, Bariatric Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, and DaVinci Robotic Surgery.
• Rounding – surgical PAs round on general surgery and surgical oncology patients daily as part of a team‑based approach with attending surgeons, residents, medical students, and PA students.
• Admissions/Consults – responsible for admissions and consults for patients in the emergency department and inpatient floors.
• Floor procedures – responsible for floor procedures including NG tube placement, difficult Foley insertion, wound VAC changes, and bedside I&D.

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and NCCPA certified, with strong surgical and patient management experience.
• 1–3 years of surgical experience preferred; new graduates considered. New nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience also considered.

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a 365‑bed facility located in Poughkeepsie, NY, overlooking the Hudson River. The hospital offers centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care and women's and children's health, and new ACGME‑accredited residency programs.
