Overview

Vassar Brothers Medical Center of Nuvance Health, proudly joining Northwell Health, located 75 minutes north of New York City, seeks an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife to join an OB/GYN group. This is an outpatient only position. The practice is a collaborative Midwife/OB-GYN team serving a diverse patient population from multiple Hudson Valley counties. We currently have 5 midwives and aim to expand to 7, with 24/7 midwifery coverage alongside physician colleagues.

The candidate should be dedicated to the midwifery model of patient empowerment, grounded in compassion and shared decision making. A full-time outpatient midwife will work 5 clinic days per week (80 hours per two-week pay period), Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills, able to establish rapport and trust with patients and families. They should be committed to evidence-based care, value working with a diverse patient population, and be reliable, adaptable, and highly competent clinically. The role requires compassion, empathy, patient education, cultural sensitivity, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and a passion for lifelong learning and professional development.

Offices are located in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Highland. We work alongside 7 board-certified physicians. The practice admits exclusively to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. The Labor and Delivery Unit handles about 2,800 births per year. The center has a Level III NICU with neonatology coverage, a robust Perinatology program, and fellowship-trained breast surgeons and GYN-oncologists on the Vassar Hospital campus.

Compensation: $130,000 - $200,000 annually, relative to experience.
