Position: Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Orthopedic Surgery
Location: City of Poughkeepsie

Description

This contract position is located on-site in Poughkeepsie and is ideal for those looking to contribute to a vibrant healthcare environment while enhancing their professional skills in a supportive setting.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing top-tier orthopedic surgical care and consultation to patients. As a crucial member of our healthcare team, you will work collaboratively with other medical professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care and surgical excellence. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of service we provide to our clients in the staffing and recruiting industry.

Responsibilities
  • Perform orthopedic surgeries and procedures with precision and care
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations and assessments
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans
  • Provide follow-up care and monitor patient progress post-surgery
  • Educate patients and their families about orthopedic conditions and treatments
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Active medical license to practice in the state of New York
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Experience in orthopedic surgical procedures (Associate level)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Commitment to providing compassionate patient care
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred
  • Level II Trauma

Schedule:

24‑hour beeper call, 3‑5 or 5‑10 consecutive shifts

Annual Volume: 500 cases

No pelvic cases

Support Staff: APPs

EMR:
Epic

Must be board‑certified

Paid travel & expenses
