Overview

Valentines By Kids is a non-profit with a niche program - we encourage schools, clubs, and Girl Scouts to make Valentine s Day cards which we collect and distribute to hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and to clients of Food & Friends (which delivers meals to the homebound). We mostly operate in the DC/MD/VA area, but the concept is also reproduceable elsewhere.

The program gears up in August to make sure our emailing list for school principals/teachers, etc. is up to date. Then we send out solicitations to schools and other organizations to make cards. We print envelopes and send them to the schools and clubs along with a return Fedex label to return the box to us. The kids make their cards, insert them in envelopes and send them back to us.

In the meantime, we reach out by email to hospitals and other facilities to get their "orders" for Valentines. Volunteers come and pack the boxes on Feb 5 to go to the hospitals, Fedex comes the next day and then we relax until August.

• Take over and run the Valentines By Kids program when needed.
• Stay organized and manage the program timeline, especially the August ramp-up, school outreach, card solicitation, and February distribution.
• Coordinate with schools, principals, teachers, clubs, and other organizations; manage communications to facilities requesting cards.
• Oversee the handling of materials: printing envelopes, providing return labels, and routing cards back to the organization.
• Work with volunteers, delegate responsibilities, and ensure continuity during seasonality.
• Gain familiarity with Wordpress (website), Sendgrid (batch emails), and the database management system; training will be provided.
• Engage with stakeholders, including school principals and facility executives, to support program needs.

• Willingness to learn and train on Wordpress, Sendgrid, and database management.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills; ability to work with multiple stakeholders (schools, clubs, facilities).
• Ability to handle batch email processes and data management tasks.
• Experience with volunteers and leadership is a plus.

There are volunteers, but our Founder and "main guy" is moving to go to college and we are looking for someone to take over and run the program. We have an established website, lots of good press coverage, a good database system, great vendors, and a very solid system. Not to mention 2 foundations that fund the program each year, so that is not an issue.
